Terms of Use

Last Updated: June 25, 2026

Welcome to ExFed Investigations. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of exfedpi.com and any related website pages, forms, content, communications, or services offered through the website.

By using this website, submitting an inquiry, or requesting a consultation, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use this website.

1. About ExFed Investigations

ExFed Investigations provides private investigation services, including investigations and surveillance, background checks, missing persons investigations, asset searches, litigation support, and related investigative services.

Information on this website is provided for general informational purposes only. Specific investigative services, fees, timelines, deliverables, and obligations are governed by a separate written engagement agreement between ExFed Investigations and the client.

2. Website Use Does Not Create a Client Relationship

Submitting a contact form, calling, emailing, or requesting a consultation does not automatically create a client relationship.

A formal client relationship begins only after ExFed Investigations agrees to accept the matter and both parties complete any required written engagement agreement, authorization, payment arrangement, and compliance review.

ExFed Investigations may decline any inquiry or engagement for any lawful reason, including conflicts of interest, unlawful purpose, lack of required authorization, safety concerns, or matters outside the firm's scope.

3. Consultations

Initial consultations may be offered free of charge and without obligation. During a consultation, ExFed Investigations may review the general nature of the matter, determine whether the request appears lawful and appropriate, and discuss potential next steps.

ExFed Investigations does not guarantee that it will accept your case after a consultation.

4. Lawful Purpose Required

You agree to use this website and any investigative services only for lawful purposes.

You may not request, direct, or use ExFed Investigations' services for:

  • Stalking, harassment, intimidation, threats, or retaliation;
  • Domestic abuse, coercive control, or unlawful surveillance;
  • Identity theft, fraud, impersonation, or unauthorized access;
  • Discrimination or unlawful employment, housing, lending, or insurance decisions;
  • Obtaining protected, confidential, or restricted information without proper legal authority;
  • Violating restraining orders, protective orders, court orders, or privacy laws;
  • Any other illegal, deceptive, abusive, or unsafe purpose.

ExFed Investigations may require you to explain your relationship to the matter, your lawful purpose, and your authority to request investigative services.

5. Background Checks, Consumer Reports, and Permissible Use

Some background investigation services may be subject to federal, state, or local laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, employment laws, privacy laws, and other regulations.

You may not use any information, report, or investigation result from ExFed Investigations to make employment, tenant screening, credit, insurance, licensing, or other eligibility decisions unless that use has been specifically reviewed, approved in writing, and conducted in compliance with all applicable laws.

ExFed Investigations may require signed authorizations, certifications, releases, or other documentation before performing certain background checks or records searches.

6. No Guaranteed Outcome

ExFed Investigations uses professional investigative methods and good-faith efforts, but no specific result is guaranteed.

Investigative work may be affected by incomplete information, unavailable records, privacy restrictions, legal limits, witness cooperation, database limitations, safety concerns, weather, geography, subject behavior, and other factors beyond ExFed Investigations' control.

Statements such as "results-driven" or similar language describe the firm's approach and do not guarantee a specific outcome.

7. Client Responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate, complete, and lawful information when submitting an inquiry or engaging ExFed Investigations.

You are responsible for:

  • Providing truthful information;
  • Disclosing relevant facts;
  • Providing required authorizations or permissions;
  • Using investigation results only for lawful purposes;
  • Paying agreed fees and expenses;
  • Following all applicable laws, court orders, and contractual obligations.

ExFed Investigations is not responsible for delays, errors, or consequences caused by inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or unlawful information provided by a client or third party.

8. Confidentiality

ExFed Investigations treats inquiries and case information with discretion and confidentiality. However, confidentiality is not absolute.

Information may be disclosed when necessary or appropriate to:

  • Perform investigative services;
  • Communicate with the client, attorneys, witnesses, vendors, databases, courts, or authorized parties;
  • Comply with subpoenas, court orders, legal process, licensing requirements, or applicable law;
  • Protect the rights, safety, property, or legal interests of ExFed Investigations, its clients, or others;
  • Report credible threats, suspected criminal activity, or imminent harm when legally required or appropriate.

Additional confidentiality terms may be included in a separate engagement agreement.

9. No Legal Advice

ExFed Investigations is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

Investigative findings may be used to support legal matters, but you should consult a licensed attorney for legal advice, legal strategy, court filings, admissibility questions, or interpretation of laws and legal rights.

10. No Emergency Services

This website is not intended for emergency use.

If there is an immediate threat to life, safety, property, or public security, call 911 or contact local law enforcement immediately.

ExFed Investigations is a private investigation firm and does not replace law enforcement, emergency responders, courts, or government agencies.

11. Fees, Payments, Cancellations, and Expenses

Fees, retainers, hourly rates, flat fees, expenses, cancellation terms, and payment obligations will be set forth in a separate written agreement or invoice.

Unless otherwise stated in writing, clients are responsible for approved expenses, third-party costs, travel, database fees, records fees, court fees, and other investigation-related charges.

Refunds, if any, are governed by the applicable engagement agreement.
